All Day Vape (ADV):
A term for an e-liquid flavor that a vaper enjoys so much that they can vape it all day without getting tired of it.
Atomizer:
The component of a vape device that heats the e-liquid and turns it into vapor.
Charger Block / Brick:
The device used to charge vape batteries or devices. Some mods use removable batteries that require external charging.
Cloud Chasing:
A term for vapers who aim to produce the largest vapor clouds possible, often using high-power devices and high-VG e-liquids.
Coil:
A wire that heats up within the atomizer, responsible for vaporizing the e-liquid. Coils are often replaceable and need to be changed periodically.
DL (Direct to Lung):
A vaping style where vapor is inhaled directly into the lungs, often resulting in larger vapor clouds. DL devices usually have more open airflow.
Drip Tip:
The mouthpiece of a vaping device where the vapor is inhaled. Some devices allow customization of drip tips for comfort or style.
Dry Hit:
When a vape coil is heated without enough e-liquid, resulting in a burnt or unpleasant taste.
E-liquid / Vape Juice:
The liquid used in vaping devices, usually containing nicotine, flavoring, and a base of propylene glycol (PG) and/or vegetable glycerin (VG).
Firmware:
The software inside a regulated mod that controls its functions. Some devices allow users to update or modify the firmware for new features.
Juice:
Another term for e-liquid.
Leaking:
When e-liquid escapes from the tank or pod, often due to overfilling, faulty seals, or improper use.
MTL (Mouth to Lung):
A vaping style where vapor is first drawn into the mouth and then inhaled into the lungs, similar to smoking a cigarette. MTL devices usually have tighter airflow.
Mod:
A more advanced vaping device that allows users to adjust power settings, often used by experienced vapers.
Nic Salt / Salt Nicotine:
A form of nicotine that is smoother and more easily absorbed at higher concentrations, popular in pod systems and devices with low wattage.
Ohms:
A measure of electrical resistance in the coil. Lower ohms produce more vapor and require more power, while higher ohms are used in less powerful, tighter-draw devices.
PG (Propylene Glycol):
A common base ingredient in e-liquids, providing a stronger throat hit and helping carry flavors.
Pod:
A small, disposable or refillable container that holds e-liquid and connects to pod systems. Popular for their simplicity and portability.
Priming:
The process of soaking a new coil with e-liquid before use to prevent burning and ensure proper vapor production.
Puff Counter:
A feature in many vape devices that tracks the number of times a user inhales, helping them monitor their usage habits.
RDA (Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer):
A type of atomizer that requires users to manually add e-liquid directly onto the coils and wick. Popular with advanced users for customization and flavor control.
Regulated Mod:
A vape mod with built-in safety features like temperature control, power regulation, and short-circuit protection.
RTA (Rebuildable Tank Atomizer):
A type of atomizer that combines the customization of RDAs with the convenience of a tank, allowing users to build their coils while holding e-liquid in a reservoir.
Squonking:
A vaping method using a mod with a built-in e-liquid reservoir, allowing users to squeeze (or “squonk”) e-liquid up to the atomizer without dripping manually.
Sub-Ohm:
Refers to vaping with coils that have a resistance of less than 1 ohm, which allows for more vapor production and intense flavor, typically used by cloud chasers.
Tank:
The part of a vape device that holds the e-liquid. Larger devices typically have tanks, while smaller devices may use pods or cartridges.
TC (Temperature Control):
A feature in some vape mods that allows users to set a specific temperature for the coil, offering more consistent hits and preventing dry burns.
Throat Hit:
The sensation felt in the throat when inhaling vapor, often compared to the sensation of smoking. Higher nicotine levels or PG content typically provide a stronger throat hit.
Unregulated Mod / Mechanical Mod:
A vape mod without safety features, allowing users to directly control power flow from the battery. Typically used by experienced vapers.
Vape Pen:
A slim, pen-shaped vaping device, typically easy to use and beginner-friendly.
Vape Pods:
Disposable or refillable small cartridges used in pod systems, containing both the e-liquid and the coil in one unit.
VG (Vegetable Glycerin):
Another base ingredient in e-liquids, providing thicker vapor and a smoother hit, often used in high-VG e-liquids for large cloud production.
Wattage:
A measurement of power output in a vape device. Higher wattage can produce more vapor and stronger flavors, while lower wattage provides a smoother experience.
Wick:
The material (often cotton) inside the atomizer that absorbs e-liquid, delivering it to the coil for vaporization.
